Well winter finally came to Nashville this past Saturday. I wondered if we would get any snow, but luckily we didn't since I needed to travel to the beautiful Union Station Hotel for some family portraits. Digital Photography Camp for Kids!

This will be my third year to teach photography camp for children ages 8-14. This is so much fun for me. I love working with the younger shutterbugs and they even teach me along the way! Last year I learned the "Bingo" (yellow vehicle game) and too much about what preteens think about various musicians. I also had an incredibly talented young boy who created still videos. Check out his Lego Life video. It is amazing! He taught me a couple of things on my computer (shortcuts) and made fun of my secondary "ancient" G3 mac. He cracked me up. This year I am teaching one beginner's camp in June (only one spot left) and one Advanced Camp for ages 12-14 in July. If you have a young shutterbug that might be interested in learning how to take better photos, give a call and lets talk. First Nashville Wedding of 2012

Emily and Seth were married January 7th at First United Methodist Church in Nashville. It was perfect 50 degree weather, and we had the best overcast light from Heaven as the two shared their vows and celebrated at the Hilton Garden Suites looking over downtown. Patti Corn did an amazing job at the reception, thanks Patti! We got some great shots overlooking downtown and in front of the church. Congratulations Emily and Seth! What a beautiful bride!

I just got back from the Dominican Republic and wanted to get some photos up of shoots I did right before I left the country for the very first time. He needed a new headshot. I took the shot on Monday and he received it on Tuesday, edited and all. Now that's fast!

We had a super photo session with Will and his parents last Sunday. This little cutie had the biggest blue eyes! Perfect for reflecting that beautiful catch light. Will was a trooper and even fought off a few mosquitoes. I thought those little rascals would've been gone by now, but I guess I need to go buy some more bug spray for my outdoor sessions. So I am trying to catch up on all I did this fall with weddings and family portraits, but it is so hard to keep up with it all! My Facebook is usually the most current, so I hope to bring my blog up to the present soon. The Hamilton's were previously married many years ago and now decided to reunite their love after being apart. They were so happy, even though it was 30 degrees outside! They went to Davidson County Clerk and were married on a Monday morning. Afterward, we were able to take a few photos inside the newly remodeled County office building and just outside. We got some really great shots of the two of them. Then they were off to New York! Congratulations Jacqueline & Timothy!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Barbara & Jim Goldenring at CJ's Off the Square. What a great venue for outside weddings! The weather was perfect! We stayed outside in the garden for most of the photos. Barbara had so much fun in her wedding gown and I jut loved the headpiece she wore in her hair. I cannot wait to show you the photos of the two love birds snuggling during toasts! It was so sweet! The colors Barbara chose were terrific. Greens, oranges, yellows and reds!

Here is a sneak peak of The Collins Family portraits from last night. This little guy even brought his favorite outfit- his Superman pajamas! We had so much fun jumping off rocks and pretending. I think the parents even had fun despite the heat and humidity, and the mosquitoes swarmed around us like they were going to eat us alive. Somehow we made it out with very little blood taken. I found a tick this morning at 5am, so next time I am deet'en it up!More photos coming!

This past Sunday was Mother's Day and The People's Church in Franklin, TN made so many Moms happy when they held a Family Dedication that evening. I was so fortunate to be a part of 30 families dedicating their lives to bringing up their children knowing and loving Jesus Christ. I remember dedicating Jade when she was young and how important it is to have the support of your church and family and friends when committing your life to bringing up your children in the way of the Lord. I love The People's Church and what they do for the children.

Jaqueline from Baby2B Nashville made this awesome melon colored tutu that I could not wait to get on my little girl! Jade is very colorful and has a definite style of her own, so we chose to pair the melon up with hot pink, Jade's favorite color. Jade had a special request- she wanted to be photographed with her puppy Dakota. Dakota was very good for us and we got several great photos of the two of them together. We all had tons of fun and Jade modeled so well for the camera.

Nadia was married last Thursday in Nashville. I learned so much about the Muslim wedding ceremonies through photographing her celebration to Omer at Durego's in Brentwood. It is so interesting to me. Females do not participate in the actual wedding ceremony, nor do they even attend. Nadia added some of the American tradition to her celebration. She wore a beautiful white bridal gown for photos with her husband and family. Then when guests arrived she wore her Somalian traditional wrap, green adorned with sparkly gold beads. Very ornate, in fact all of the ladies' gowns were so colorful. I will have more photos to show later, but here are a few. Madison turned 9 months over Easter weekend so we had to throw in some Easter fun with her photo shoot. She was most interested in eating the flowers and watching passer-bys, but she laughed at me when I was silly, so that made my day. I am sure some of the spectators laughed at my silliness as well! Penelope and Celia were such great subjects for my photoshoot last week. The girls are twins and when one was happy, the other one was upset. Thank goodness for those pink snuggly things! Why didn't I have one of those when Jade was little! They were like beautiful baby dolls!I really enjoyed photographing these girls and their family. I didn't want to leave, but the girls had enough and wanted Mommy. I cannot blame them. Also, the Grandmother makes these adorable crochet bear hats that I hope to have someday! Cannot wait to do some photographs with those!

Alison and Jimmy were wed at Traveler's Rest this past Saturday. Even though it was a little chilly, everyone kept warm from all of the excitement, well almost warm! We have had some really cold weather for Tennessee lately, so we did Lily's one year portrait inside where we could all stay warm. It was a good thing too, she was so fast that I don't know if I could have kept up with her outside! She really had fun with my backdrop and running toward me. Her sister even got into the fun. I first photographed Lily's parents at their wedding many years ago, and now I get to watch their family grow, thanks guys! What a pleasure!

Christmas Portraits

I am still photographing strong with only one week left before Christmas! I have been so busy photographing everyone else's little ones and family that I haven't had time to photograph my own daughter for our own Christmas cards! Will I be able to get Jade photographed, printed and mailed before next Thursday? I doubt it! There doesn't seem to be a break anywhere in the near future. I feel like I am on the pink boat in The Chocolate Factory! Good news though, I am am meeting some really great people and seeing past brides/grooms with their new families and having a blast photographing them!

Jennifer and Neal are back from their honeymoon and I couldn't wait to show you some of their wedding photos. I have too many to show you so I will blog over several days. Tonight I am blogging about the ceremony. The ceremony took place at Lady of The Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville. We had tons of fun with the groomsmen first. We walked around and photographed the guys just hanging out and messing with Neal. Then Jennifer and Neal decided to see each other before the ceremony in order to get more photos and get to the reception as quickly as possible. Of course Jennifer had to update her facebook status before walking down the aisle. I love it! Then there was the gettaway with the party bus! What a luxury! That bus was sweet! Staying Busy with Family Portraits

Well as you know, this is the time for family portraits. Many people choose to have their families photographed in the fall because of the beautiful colors and then, as an added bonus, use them for Christmas cards and gifts. There is still time to get your portrait done and back to you so you can make Christmas cards. Just give me a call and we can set a time. Also, if you have family coming in town over Thanksgiving it is the perfect time to get everyone in your extended family in the picture. I had so much fun at CJs Off the Square last night! They food and drinks were fabulous! A Catered Affair provided the awesome food (tomato BLT is still calling me!) and Silver Strings provided the beautiful music. If you haven't checked this great venue out, you need to! They host weddings and private parties and do such a superb job! I love photographing at CJ's. It is so beautiful, as you can tell from these photos.

These two sisters braved the cold air last Saturday to have their portraits made for their parents. They were such good sports since the temp was around 48 and the wind chill made it even colder. They didn't fuss a bit and we had so much fun. In between shoots mom and dad wrapped them up and kept the warm. What sweet girls! We had lots of fun.

We shot Morgan's bridal portrait yesterday at her parent's home in Franklin. What a beautiful home and the sun was hitting her veil and the trees just perfectly. Amy and Sean vowed to love each other over Labor Day weekend in Murfreesboro at the Oaklands Historic home. It was a beautiful day for a wedding and it cooled off so nice just before the ceremony. It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Oaklands Mansion and my assistant and I had so much fun, especially with these really awesome windows that were so magnificent in size!

Summer is over, but it went out with a blast. My family and I had such fantastic summer. My little girl didn't want to go back to school because she was having so much fun at home. During the time I spent with my girly girl, I realized she is pretty good with a camera. I put a camera in her hand as soon as she could hold one. I love her underwater self portraits (she is the one in pink goggles). She also took some great pics of her friends. She says she wants to be a Vet, but who knows.

Discovery Cove

My family and I just got back from Discovery Cove where we snorkeled and swam with dolphins. We had such a blast getting to know Tyler (our dolphin for the day) and learning to swim along sting rays. It took me a moment to get used to the 50 degree water and photographing underwater. But once I got it we were off! My little girl had no problems, except that she was afraid the sting rays would sting her so she screamed every time she swam over one. Once she petted them and realized they were friendly, she loved snorkeling and we had a fantastic day. We all loved it so much I am sure we will have to find another spot to go next year, so let meknow if youhave any suggestions! Thanks!

Downtown Nashville Wedding

A year ago I had the pleasure of photographing Beth Repasky's wedding and I am so excited they asked me back to photograph her twin sister Becky's wedding July 1st. Becky and Josh had their intimate ceremony at First Baptist, Downtown Nashville. The new couple was surrounded by their closest loved ones as the celebrated their union. The ceremony was in the chapel, but we also got to have some fun in the beautiful sanctuary with the stain glass. We fought the wind outside and then headed to Maggiano's for the reception. I have to add how much fun we had at the reception, everyone laughing and enjoying each other, even Zoolander showed up for a moment and then we all started doing crazy eye tricks and silly faces. Too much fun. You guys are so awesome and thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of The Repasky and Adams big day! I want to see all of your photos too Beth!

Photos in Downtown Nashville

For Crystal and Michael's engagements we got to go downtown Nashville. Crystal is originally from Chicago so they wanted to have some city feel to their photos. It was calling for storms but we got lucky and the weather held up for us. We had so much fun playing with Elvis and trying to escape the "fountain police" during our photo shoot. The weather made for a beautiful sunset and skyline on the pedestrian bridge which finished off our day. We had a great time getting to know each other and I am looking forward to their wedding next May. Thanks Crystal and Michael!

There was so much excitement at Alison and Jimmy's engagement a couple of weeks ago. (I am a little behind on my blog because I am very busy out in the field photographing you all:-) Not only was there love in the air with these two, the horse you see in the photos was past due in giving birth! We were hoping she'd surprise us and have her foal while we were there, but no such luck. Just lucky to get some great photos at The Wolf Den Farm on a beautiful evening.

I had the pleasure of photographing Virginia and Paul's engagements a couple months ago on Virginia's Dad's farm. We had so much fun and I couldn't wait to play some more on their home farm with a big red barn and antique cars - what more could photographer ask for! The Egbert's wedding ceremony took place at Downtown Franklin First United Methodist Church. The bride walked down the aisle for a private moment before the ceremony so we were able to get lots of great shots before hand. The ceremony was so sweet and romantic with a tender kiss and hug at the unity candle. Then it was off to the family farm for some great food and bluegrass in the big red barn, decorated with beautiful chandeliers, candy, herbs and flowers! Well done! I had so many pictures I liked that I am blogging too many, I know, but I couldn't help myself!

Jessie and Ben were married at the Brentwood United Methodist Church this past stormy Saturday. Though it was raining outside, inside it was too gorgeous for words. I really enjoyed photographing the church's beauty and, of course, my beautiful bride Jessie. What a great soul. After the ceremony we headed over to Traveler's Rest for the reception where the party really rocked thanks to the 80's and DJ Cale Carver! I had too much fun laughing because the Groom was hilarious! He really knew how to entertain his guests- and his photographer too! Thanks again Ben for those many laughs!

This beautiful little 12 day newborn was perfect for her first photoshoot - and very serious. Serious about sleeping. She also has a very unique name, Kharis (meaning grace) Grace. Her parents explained her name doubled as Grace upon Grace. She is a wonderful gift.
